Select your favorite viewing spot for your pole or shepherd hook.
Have a clear 6-8 ft. radius around the pole from a squirrel launching point.
Attach an effective squirrel baffle 3.5 ft. from ground onto the pole or shepherd hook.
If that is not wanted or available....
Use Safflower Seed only in your feeder. Some squirrels may have adapted to eating this, however.
Use a squirrel deterrent feeder like Squirrel Buster Classic or Plus, or the Yankee Flipper, Tipper, Dipper, or Whipper, or others you like.
Do not try or use...
Vaseline or other oily substance on the pole. Getting this on an animals feathers or fur is like your own backyard oil spill. Not really funny to see their licking and ingesting it, their inability to remove it, or their suffering because of it.
